Introduction:
Fremde Stimme is a detective-style visual novel created at Waseda University as an experimental tool for learning German.
The story centers on the TFO Project—a top-secret technological partnership between East and West Zootopia—that has suddenly been shut down by the West without any explanation. The fallout is devastating for both sides, and the already fragile hope of reunification quickly fades.
You play as an intelligence agent from East Zootopia, tasked with investigating the situation through a subtle lead: a scientist who exited the project before its collapse. Your job is to observe him closely—how he speaks, what he avoids, and who he interacts with—then imitate his voice and identity to uncover hidden truths.
At its core, the game explores the idea that meaning often lies not in what is said, but in what is left unsaid.
Currently a prototype, the project welcomes feedback. It is built around German pragmatics, focusing on how language functions in real-life contexts. Players analyze video calls, messages, and conversations to construct detailed linguistic profiles. The ultimate challenge is impersonation—adopting a target’s speech patterns convincingly enough to gather information without raising suspicion.
Every clue comes from careful observation of language, and every mistake risks exposing your cover.
