Overview:

You have no recollection of who you were when you awaken on Moonstray’s shores. You are granted a new beginning in a peaceful fishing village with the inhabitants after Rowan saves you. However, there is a profound, unsaid mystery hidden beneath Rowan’s austere demeanor. You have to choose whether you can breach his barriers before the past drags him under as an odd storm builds on the horizon.

Introduction:

Moonstray is a furry visual novel centered on redemption, recovery, and the emotional scars we hide from the world. You step into the role of an amnesiac castaway, rescued from the sea and welcomed by the residents of a fog-shrouded fishing town. Before long, you realize that you’re not the only one running from a painful past.

As a strange storm gathers offshore, your attention is drawn to Rowan—the reserved soul who saved you from the water. Distant and guarded, he keeps others at bay, and it’s up to you to break through his walls and help him confront his trauma before the brewing storm erupts into something far more dangerous.

Spend time with a memorable cast of characters as you slowly grow closer to Rowan, opening up and learning to be vulnerable together.

Just a quick heads-up that Moonstray is still in development. I’m a solo creator, with help from a friend, handling the writing, coding, and artwork—so you may notice changes or updates as things continue to be refined and improved.

At the moment, the game is not yet supported on iOS or Android.

You can adjust the music and sound volume in the Preferences menu. This option is included to make the game more comfortable for players with sensitive hearing (like me!).

You can play the game directly in your browser or download it to your desktop. For the smoothest experience, downloading is recommended.

Updates and Development

Currently, the game includes the complete romance route for Rowan, the husky who rescues you at the start of the story. He carries deep emotional scars, and his storyline focuses on confronting his past and learning how to love again.

Development is ongoing, and more content is planned. Future updates will introduce full romance routes for Theo—the charming dragon who runs Sail la Vie—and Cedar, the shy deer who works in the shop. They’re already present as side characters you can spend time with, but their dedicated romantic storylines are coming soon. If you’d like to follow their journeys, be sure to follow the game for updates!

Moonstray is an LGBT-focused visual novel, but it’s designed for everyone to enjoy, featuring gender-neutral dialogue throughout.

How to use the browser to play

The controls are really simple because everything operates directly within your web browser. The text can be advanced by just clicking, but there’s a catch:

• To view the text you missed, use the mouse wheel to scroll up.
• If you rolled back, you can continue to advance the tale by scrolling down or clicking.
• Skipping is only functional if you navigate to preferences and change the items you wish to skip.

Hi! I’m Morrowdon, and I make furry visual novels because I love telling stories—and honestly, because it keeps me from getting bored.

I have a friend helping out, but I handle the writing, art, coding, sound, and pretty much everything else. So if something breaks… that one’s on me.
