Introduction:

Three years ago, Erin began dating his best friend, Cygnus—a ballet dancer. But as Cygnus struggled with mental illness, their relationship moved toward deeper commitment, and Erin’s job grew more demanding, he became overwhelmed and withdrew. His avoidance pushed their relationship into an uncertain limbo.

Everything changes when Cygnus dies suddenly in a car accident, making all of Erin’s hesitations moot. After receiving a posthumous email from Cygnus, Erin turns to his role at the Department of Last Thoughts and Unspoken Words to look back on Cygnus’ final week and the things left unsaid.

Now Erin must confront his feelings about his partner, their death, and the life they shared. Accepting loss is difficult—especially when you haven’t yet faced the truth of the relationship itself. One final kiss for the one he loved, as he learns how to say goodbye.
