Warning:
Given the premise of the setting, I suppose it is appropriate to warn of potentially triggering content, even tho I believe the game would be rated Pegi 12 if it were rated.
Introduction:
In the Age of Fire and Ruin, hatred ruled the hearts of men, and Esea was consumed by an endless war between brothers.
Conflict became as ordinary as breathing. Hatred became as familiar as life itself. To destroy the hated “Other” was considered the highest form of joy. Every morning began with bloodshed, and every evening ended in mourning.
Among the forgotten were the Broken—those born crippled, mute, mad, or otherwise different. Society cast them aside like damaged weapons. Those who became disabled through war were honored as heroes, yet those born Broken were ignored, abandoned, and blamed for their existence. Their suffering was treated as punishment from the Goddess, their lives reduced to burdens.
Then, from the darkest depths of the greatest war, a sorcerer of terrible power emerged.
His name was Mordred.
He forged a pact with Sin, and a demon answered his call. His power became so overwhelming that no mortal force could oppose him.
Then came the darkest night.
When hope itself seemed to disappear and the heavens wept, the Goddess descended upon Esea. She was radiant and compassionate, yet terrifying in her divine wrath. Her judgment was absolute. She tore the demons apart and used her power to unite a people who had spent generations destroying one another.
The Goddess brought forth sacred relics: a blade, a bow, and two tomes of light. None could wield them without being chosen by fate.
But the forces of darkness possessed their own counterparts: an axe, a staff, and a tome of bloodshed, wielded by the Three Great Vampires.
To oppose them, the Goddess sought three souls worthy of her blessing.
Ragna, whose love for his family gave him extraordinary strength.
Alexandra, who fought not for fame or glory, but because she believed in what was right.
And the Nameless One, whose soul had become empty—until the Goddess filled it with light.
Together, the three chosen rose against the darkness. The Three Great Vampires were defeated, and Mordred and his demon were cast down.
But victory came at a terrible price.
Alexandra fell.
With the war ended, the Goddess returned to the stars, promising that she would come again when Esea faced its greatest hour of need.
Peace finally returned.
Weapons were abandoned, fields were cultivated, and the fires of war slowly faded.
Yet one injustice remained.
The Broken were still forgotten.
Then the Goddess delivered a final revelation:
“The Broken are not curses. They are mirrors of your deeds. Their existence reveals your guilt, and their lives offer you a path to redemption. To harm them is a sin beyond measure.”
Her faithful answered not with swords, but with open hands.
They sheltered the forgotten, protected the vulnerable, and devoted themselves to restoring the dignity of those society had abandoned.
And among them was one who had once been lost.
I take up neither sword nor shield.
I carry a quill.
I wage no war with steel, but with Scripture.
I write so that her mercy and justice will never be forgotten. I write so that her name will endure long after the fires of war have faded.
For I was the third.
The last of her chosen.
Once, I was nameless and lost.
Now, I have been given a name.
Features:
- Most of the cast consists of beastfolk—or furries, if you prefer. The game features a character-focused story with a variety of unique races, classes, abilities, and gameplay mechanics.
- Two Lords:
Daniel, a fox who specializes in light magic, and Oliver, a human who begins as a trainee-class character using staves. After promoting into his true base class, Oliver gains access to dark magic. - Characters with Disabilities:
Some characters, including Oliver, have disabilities that influence gameplay in different ways. Players are encouraged to check their status information when these characters join the party. Currently, Oliver is the only character with this mechanic, but the next major version is planned to introduce three additional characters with gameplay-affecting disabilities. - Sky Soldier Class:
A new class designed for winged birdfolk. Flying while carrying heavy equipment or fighting in the air is difficult without specialized training. Sky Soldiers undergo rigorous preparation to overcome these limitations. They wield lances, have less movement than Pegasus or Wyvern units, but can still benefit from terrain bonuses. - Dancer & Bard:
The game features both a Dancer and a Bard. The Bard can learn different songs with unique effects, with the first song providing a small area-of-effect heal. - Story Content:
The current build contains 8 chapters, including a mandatory Chapter X, as well as a prologue and two interludes. - Unique Sprites:
Every playable character, along with important enemies and NPCs, has their own combat and map sprites. - Character-Driven Story:
The narrative focuses heavily on its cast, their personalities, relationships, and individual stories. - Hand-Edited Portraits:
Many character portraits were created by taking existing clothing designs as a foundation and adapting them into beastfolk characters. Some turned out better than others, but the visual improvements throughout development reflect the creator’s growing experience. - Fair Fog of War:
Enemies generally follow the same visibility rules as the player. If you cannot see an enemy, they most likely cannot see you either, with obvious exceptions such as thieves and similar mechanics. - Modified Skill System:
Some skills function differently from their counterparts in the official games. RNG-based offensive skills have been redesigned in particular. For example, Luna always activates and reduces the target’s defense by a smaller amount rather than relying on chance. - Command-Based Skills:
Certain abilities, such as Provoke and Life and Death, can be activated as commands instead of triggering automatically. For example, you can choose between making a normal attack or activating Life and Death to apply its stat changes for both the current combat round and the enemy’s following turn. - Upgradeable Skills:
Some abilities can evolve into stronger versions, such as upgrading Dusk into Luna. - Five Difficulties & Casual Mode:
Players can choose from five difficulty settings, along with a Casual Mode. However, certain story situations can still result in units being lost even on Casual Mode, with more such situations planned. - Legendary Weapons:
Legendary weapons are intentionally extremely powerful, as demonstrated during the prologue. However, their immense power comes at a devastating cost: using one will kill its wielder, even in Casual Mode. Their strength can make them tempting to rely on, but building your entire strategy around them is likely to end badly.
