Introduction:
The massive Arctic research vessel, the IRV Arran, disappeared two years ago, leaving bewildered and distressed families in the dark. A man named Sharif gives some of the family members an option after the official search is canceled: They can donate money to a private search effort and, if they do, they can participate in the search in person.
Garret Reid, a wolf who lost his sibling on the Arran, is the main character of the novel. He is traveling to the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard, where the expedition is scheduled to depart. He encounters a diverse and colorful group of other relatives of the missing Arran crew, each of whom has a unique motivation for taking part.
What will they find out in the dark, frozen Arctic Ocean? Answers? Or perhaps, more than they ever wanted to know…
