Introduction:
Motivated by the Mediterranean of the Middle Ages* This is the tale of a bygone era. A period of calm and prosperity in the Verigo region following an incident that would be regarded as… The Wars of Garlic.
Margo, a teenage jester who worked for her master at court, lived in a huge castle. With belongings, favors, praise, and even a close relationship with her king, Margo lived a life of complete luxury and pleasure.
An ideal life that changed course because of a perverse desire that would grow inside young Margo’s heart… All of humanity’s problems—unhappiness, sadness—quickly transformed into sinister cravings for the adolescent jester.
Thus, one day Margo left the castle with a very clear purpose. “I want to know misery.”
Offering a lifetime of service to anyone who could help her see her desires come true. What the young woman did not know was that the real world would be one very different from what she expected.

More Information:
Press For Coffee is an indie studio born out of a mental health jam called “Safe In Our World Mental Health Game Dev Champions 2024.” The studio consists of just two members and numerous collaborators and friends; however, its creative vision is narrowed down to a single person. Press For Coffee forges a very defined path when it comes to developing its titles, and with Smiling Misery, a game set in the Mediterranean/Castilian medieval period, its team is making its debut in the industry.
Press For Coffee is characterized by being a very “homegrown” studio, basing much of its work dynamic on trusting the creative vision of others. Final decisions are made by the same person, but the prism is shared.
