Introduction:
A Forest Tail aims to raise the bar for roleplaying games. While the entire world can be enjoyed solo, the experience truly comes alive when played on a server with others. Extensive customization lets you shape your character, home, species, playstyle, and even the world around you, creating an experience that can feel entirely your own.
At its core, A Forest Tail is built specifically for roleplay. Rather than forcing players to rely on mods to transform an existing game into something it was never designed to be, the goal is to provide a complete RP experience straight out of the box.
Once the full release arrives, the plan is to support the community even further with a comprehensive development kit for modders. This will give creators deep access to the game’s systems and allow them to expand the world and push its possibilities even further.
The game is currently in a very early alpha stage, with development primarily focused on its core mechanics and story. Visual polish is being added along the way with the help of talented artists, including LalaLewds and Seliel the Shaper, alongside musicians who understand how important atmosphere and immersion are to the player experience.
Development is being handled by a solo programmer working alongside a talented group of artists and creators. Feedback from the community plays a major role in shaping the project, so while the game is still a work in progress, every update brings it closer to the experience envisioned for A Forest Tail.

- A Dwarf Bound for the Mines?Venture into dangerous underground mines in search of rare minerals and materials for powerful equipment. Repair minecarts to gain access to deeper levels, but be warned—the further you descend, the greater the danger. How deep can you go?
- The Ultimate Tamer?Many creatures throughout the world can be befriended by offering them the right gifts. Once tamed, they become loyal familiars who fight alongside you. With numerous creatures to discover—including some capable of evolving—you can even breed them to create unique combinations.
- A Mithril-Rank Adventurer?Battle dangerous enemies, uncover forgotten secrets, and rise through the ranks of the Adventurer’s Guild. Ordinary enemies are fought in real time, while powerful bosses trigger strategic turn-based battles. Your familiars and party members join you on an arena that forms wherever the encounter begins.
- A Master Craftsman?Begin with basic crafting and gradually expand your homestead. Eventually, you can purchase entire structures that become functional interior locations, including shops and other buildings you can customize to suit your needs.
- The Ultimate Angler?Cast your line in a side-view fishing minigame where your potential catches depend on the current season, weather conditions, and time of day. Different circumstances mean different fish—and there is always something new to discover.
- The World’s Greatest Mage?Master multiple elemental schools and combine spells together to create increasingly powerful effects. Practicing magic helps you grow stronger, while interacting with NPCs may reveal hidden knowledge capable of completely changing how you approach certain battles.
- Everything ConnectsThe wood you gather can become the furniture you build. The crops you grow can be turned into tea that heals the familiar you raised, who may then fight beside you in your next adventure. No matter how you choose to play, your different activities constantly feed into one another.
- A Living, Changing WorldExperience a dynamic day-and-night cycle with unique dawn, dusk, and nighttime atmospheres. Lamps automatically illuminate the world after sunset, while NPCs follow their own routines—running shops during the day, sharing meals, and heading home to sleep at night.Build relationships by learning characters’ gift preferences, following dialogue paths, and completing quests that become available as you spend more time with them. Dynamic weather and changing seasons also affect the world, including which fish you can catch throughout the year.
